Sixth grade sailed away for trips week on October 16th. Four chaperones, including Mrs. Chaskes, went with the 28 sixth graders to White’s Landing on Catalina Island.

Mrs. Chaskes has been to Catalina eighteen times for school trips. She was really excited to go because there was a touch tank. In the touch tanks there were sea stars, sea cucumbers, and sea urchins.

Mrs. Chaskes expected her students to try something new, to get to know each other in a different way, and enjoy themselves. Mrs. Chaskes’s favorite activity was the night snorkel. Mrs. Chaskes loved the night snorkel because she felt that it was peaceful, and she especially liked the bioluminescence.

Mrs. Chaskes said that she missed her husband, her two daughters, and her dog while on the trip. Overall the 6th grade had a great time during trips week at Catalina Island. They look forwards to next year’s trip!
