On January 14, 2019, I met with Coach Cortez to interview him. He likes many different things, but he loves sports. I learned many cool things that I never would have thought to ask him. It was a great learning experience, and it was also very fun. This article summarizes what I have learned about Coach Cortez.

Coaches favorite movie genre is sci-fi because he thinks that, “it is interesting with the stuff they can do in the movies.” He also loves to see alien movies because, in his opinion, they are amazing. His favorite sci-fi movie is Men In Black, and his favorite character is the one that Will Smith plays, Agent J. His favorite TV show is the Big Bang Theory because they are so funny with the things they do. He doesn’t have a favorite Marvel character, but if he had to pick one it would be Captain America. Coach’s favorite food is a burrito, he says, “It comes in a giant tortilla, you can fit everything in there, and it’s easy to eat. It’s good for when you are driving or when you are walking. Just remember, no eating and driving.” Coach Cortez’s favorite time of the year is winter because “you get to wear cool hats to keep you warm. I also get to wear my leggings, and you also get to go skiing, snowboarding, and tubing.” If Coach Cortez had to choose between snowboarding or skiing, he would choose snowboarding because he loves to go outside and go really fast down a hill on a board. His favorite sport is hockey because it is a fast-paced sport where the puck never goes out of bounds and his favorite hockey team is the LA Kings!  Coach Cortez said that he wanted to become a P.E. Coach because “I like to be active, I like to move, and I love teaching kids skills that they will be able to use when they grow up and it’s fun watching people running around and having fun.” Coach Cortez’s favorite holiday is Thanksgiving because of all the food, but his favorite dish on Thanksgiving is mashed potatoes. During his free time, Coach likes to go sock shopping, he also likes to go to the movies. The latest movie that he has seen is A Star is Born. Coaches favorite animal has to be a lion, he picked this animal because it’s the king of the jungle and they are “in charge”. His favorite book so far is written by Barack Obama, but he cannot recall the title of it. Coach prefers dogs over cats because he finds them more relaxed and less likely to attack you. He has 2 labrador’s (It is a type of dog), one is named Lola and the other is named Juno. Coach doesn’t have a favorite song, but he loves anything that has to do with pop music. His favorite place in the world go is Toronto Canada because the sun is out for a longer period of time. There are also many cool places to visit in Toronto like the hockey hall of fame. He thought that the people were so nice, and he wants to go in the winter because every time he’s been it’s been really hot. Coach Cortez grew up speaking Spanish, then all of the sudden everyone started to speak English, so he had to learn English. Learning English took around 1 year for him to be able to speak almost fluently.

In conclusion, Coach Cortez is a cool guy that has many interesting facts about him. I found out that coach Cortez and I had many things in common with each other like we both like fast-paced sports and that we both love the movie men in black. It was super fun to learn new things about a person that you have not really talked to. It was super fun to learn new fun facts about Coach Cortez because at first glance he just looks like  P.E teacher, but never judge a person by their looks because there is much more to him than just a teacher.

When you interview someone you get to know them better than you thought you knew them, so the next time you see someone you want to get closer with them or become friends. You should ask them fun questions and maybe by the end, you will know them a little better than you thought you did.
